The Ball
A home with history and fiery roots
This renovation project, taken on for private clients, transformed a house, originally a fire station, from its modest beginnings as a three-bedroom home with a separate attic room accessed only from outside. The redesign expanded the property into a spacious five-bedroom house, featuring one ensuite, a family bathroom, and an additional shower and toilet for convenience. The remodel also introduced an open plan kitchen and dining area, a dedicated office space, and a utility room, all thoughtfully arranged to provide comfortable living.
One of the highlights of the renovation is the stunning views over the village and Dunster Castle, which can now be enjoyed from the living room, one of the bedrooms and the raised decking. The improvements have not only increased the number of bedrooms and modernised facilities for the family and their visitors, but also enhanced the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal, creating a contemporary family home with character and history.
